| Today, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation will honor 144 firefighters who died in the line of duty. Of these, 79 passed in the last year. Members of our team and area departments are in Emmitsburg, MD for the weekend. Our members are escorting the family of Chief Robert "Bob" Forney. The Chief was a 25-year veteran of the Brimfield Fire Department in rural central Illinois. Chief Forney contracted COVID-19 in November 2020. After a long-fought battle, he died from complications related to the virus. The Memorial Service is open to the public and will be live-streamed beginning at 10:00AM ET. To access the livestream and learn how you can help to honor our nation’s fallen heroes, visit National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend. |
