On 1/27/2020, the Annual RI Southern Firefighter's League Legislators Night was held at Richmond Country Club. Members were in attendance and honored to witness Captains Katie and Travis Serra accept the 2019 Chief Fred Stanley Dedicated Service Award.

Chief Stanley retired in 2015, after a 67 year fire service career, and passed away in 2019. The Chief was a US Marine and the same traits that guided him through his service and career are the traits that are required of nominees to receive the award named in his honor.

• Justice
• Judgement
• Dependability
• Initiative
• Decisiveness
• Tact
• Integrity
• Enthusiasm
• Bearing
• Unselfishness
• Courage
• Knowledge
• Loyalty
• Endurance

Katie and Travis fulfill these requirements and then some. With these traits they have impacted countless people within our department and community both on and off the trucks. They are a constant source of mentor-ship and guidance and I thank them for their service. I am proud to have them representing not only our department; but the core vision of the department.
