Katie and Travis Serra, CARS Officers As part of our 50th celebration, we will be introducing you to some of our members. We are excited to share their stories and how they serve our community. This week we are happy to feature Katie and Travis Serra. Katie and Travis Serra’s passion to help their community is what led them to Charlestown Ambulance Rescue, and to each other. The two joined CARS as teenagers over a decade ago and met at the organization. Now married for five years, the Serra’s say they feel honored to be a part of something meaningful to them and their community and celebrate 50 years of the department’s service. “CARS has made a difference in our community over the years and has made a difference in our lives personally and professionally,” the couple says. In 2020, the Serra's were honored by the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League with the Frederick A. Stanley Dedicated Service Award for their commitment to service and contributions to the community. Katie, who has been with Rescue for 13 years, also works as a Physician Assistant at Westerly and Lawrence & Memorial Hospitals. Travis, who’s been with CARS for 15 years, owns his own design firm Serra Design. The couple, whose journey together started at CARS, are now enjoying the next chapter of their lives as new parents to their son Luke. |
