This week, we bid “farewell” to Deputy Chief Brian Doucette after over 22 years with Charlestown Rescue. Brian and his family will be relocating to the Southern US to continue their lives in their new home.

Brian has served in every rank including EMT, Paramedic, Crew Chief, Captain, Deputy Chief, and Acting Chief of Department. He has also served on the Board of Directors and as it’s President. An influencer and mentor, Brian has brought clinical and technical knowledge to our clinicians, making them the best in Rhode Island. Through his continued education, 4 college degrees, RN, and advanced licensure, DC Doucette has been on the frontlines in technological & educational improvements to our patient care. He’s also known for a paragraph or two in an email to bring us all up to date on the latest and greatest, or to provide insight to a call we responded to. (We will still get them I’m sure!)

But, besides his vast clinical knowledge, his long emails, and his know how, Brian has been a friend and mentor to us all. He has always been a phone call away to answer any questions or lift you up when you needed it most. Brian has been a constant for Charlestown Rescue for generations of providers who have come through our doors.

This week, for the last time, DC Doucette terminated EMS Command at the end of the Charlestown Seafood Festival on Sunday night. Over the weekend, those same generations of members came by to see him, share memories, and wish him well.

Brian, thank you for all you have done for the people of Charlestown and more importantly, for our organization and it’s members. We will never forget your service to us. To Becky, and Brian’s children, thank you for sharing him with us for all these years. You are all always a part of our family! We hope to see you when you visit Rhode Island. Best of luck in your new home and career. We will miss you.
