During the summer of 2012, The Emergency Notification portion of "One Call Now" was bought out by ECN and the Town of Charlestown RI is now part of the CodeRED system.
CodeRED is a emergency notification service by which town officials can notify Charlestown residents and businesses by telephone, cellular phone, text message, or email about time-sensitive emergency situations or important community alerts.
The system is capable of sending messages only to specific neighborhoods or the entire town.
Sign Up for CodeRED
The CodeRed Mobile Alert App delivers information from community officials in areas that are subscribed to the CodeRED Emergency Notification System. Additionally, national organizations used by public safety officials and police departments may utilize the system to send messages to targeted geographic areas.
Future uses could include augmenting Federal Government issued critical alerts, such as those transmitted through IPAWS as an additional Alert Disseminator in support of the FEMA Program.
