Charlestown Rescue along with Charlestown Fire District and Charlestown Police were dispatched to Route 1 for a reported motor vehicle accident. First units arrived to find a single vehicle accident into a tree with two patients requiring extrication. Rescue Units and Charlestown Fire District worked together to extricate the driver of the vehicle. Life Star medical helicopter was requested to the scene for the prolonged extrication, but later cancelled enroute. Bradford Motors was requested emergent to the scene to assist units with movement of the vehicle for better access to the patient as well.
Both patients were extricated and transported to the Hospital by Charlestown and South Kingstown EMS rescues with non-life threatening injuries. The cause of the accident is being investigated by Charlestown Police.
