By Board Member Sue Monroe
April 21, 2021

As part of our 50th celebration, we will be introducing you to some of our members. We are excited to share their stories and how they serve our community. This week we are happy to feature Emily Louzon.

Emily Louzon, CARS Lieutenant
Hometown: Charlestown

Emily Louzon started volunteering at Charlestown Ambulance Rescue as a junior member when she was just 17-years-old, and 2021 marks her 6th year in service at the organization. Now a Lieutenant at Rescue, Emily says she’s proud of what CARS represents and stands for, especially when it comes to gender equality and the treatment of women. “By including females in command staff positions and by having a majority of our department female, this department is opening up strides in gender inequality,” says the Lieutenant.

Emily holds multiple jobs serving her community, working as a Tech in Westerly Hospital’s Emergency Department and Certified Nursing Assistant at a nursing home. She says her position at Rescue has helped develop her leadership skills and describes CARS as an organization that’s constantly expanding education and fostering growth through experiences. Emily, who has strong ties to the community both professionally and personally, says the 50th Anniversary of CARS is a testament to the department’s continued progress and success. “Fifty years means a continuation of dedicated service to a community that I have grown up in and love dearly,” she says.
